As a business, we are committed to environmentally sustainable practices. We strive to operate as a carbon neutral business. We are not officially certified yet, but we are on the right track. How?

• We use 100% compostable/biodegradable coffee bags.
• We provide wholesale customers with reusable tins to store coffee.
• Any organic waste is composted and we compost or repurpose our disposable coffee cups.
• Our mobile cafe is an up-cycled caravan with an extremely energy efficient coffee machine and is recharged using solar power.
• We use carbon neutral paper supplies and carbon neutral printing services.

Why Bother?

Fundamentally, we like to think that our kids and our kids’ kids can experience nature as we have. One small coffee business obviously cannot control climate change, nor rid the ocean of plastic waste. However, we can at least do our best to not add to the problem.

Doing all the above actions is a choice we have – and it’s an obvious choice for us. We don’t see it as ‘being green’… it’s really about being smart. Being sensible. If there’s a better (less harmful) way of doing something and it’s within our means, then why the hell not do it? We think this should really be the norm.

But we are by no means perfect. It is certainly an ongoing process for us and we’ll keep looking for ways to improve.

What can YOU do?

Don’t worry, we won’t ask you to sponsor a dolphin, we just ask that you please bury your used Ocean Grind coffee bags in your compost bin. They will also biodegrade in rubbish bins but they break down a lot quicker if they are composted.

Don’t have a compost bin? Local subscribers can leave their empty bags for us to collect and compost for you. We also plan to deliver in reusable tins.

Don’t forget to also compost your used coffee grounds – worms love it!

We also encourage you to help reduce waste by using a KeepCup or JOCO glass at cafes, or by choosing cafes that use eco-friendly takeaway cups. Suggest to your favourite cafe to adopt eco-friendly cups if they don’t already do so.
